Today we will be working on planning for a personal narrative.
A personal narrative is a true story about your life.
This means that you will write a story about a memory from your own life.
You may choose to write about the time that you went to Disneyland or drove across the country to visit your grandparents.
On your piece of paper, I would like for you to brainstorm some of your favorite memories. Remember, it is important to put down memories that you would be able to write about! You'll need to know details about these memories.
Personal Narrative | TIME for Kids.
Here you will find a sample of a personal narrative. You will also find a checklist. Right now we are working on planning for our personal narrative, but it helps to see examples as we are working to create something new.
Once you have finished brainstorming and planning, all of your information will be put onto this paper to turn in.
This will help me to know how well you are understanding the material. Click above and answer the questions.
From all of the items that you brainstormed, you will need to choose one topic to write about.
What are you going to write about?
Here are some ideas for you!
You can write about:
-getting a dog
-going on a trip to Mexico
-moving across the country
-decorating the Christmas tree
-going to Disneyland
Once you've chosen your favorite memory, you will need to break it down into four parts.
If I were to do this about my trip to Disneyland, here is how I would break it down.
FIRST
My mom bought us tickets to Disneyland.
THEN
We got in the car and drove all the way to Disneyland.
NEXT
We finally arrived at Disneyland and went inside.
LAST
We went on many rides and watched the fireworks!
