Cimate changes

Depending on the time of the year there are climate changes. Climate changes in the winter allow for cold temperature, rain, moisture, and fog. In the summer we can observe changes in temperature that are hot, and humid.

Oxidation and the Statue of Liberty

Oxidation is a chemical reaction that occurs with metals. The contact of oxygen with metal and changes in atmospheric moisture due to weather conditions cause metals to rust which means oxidize. With steel the metal turns a dark reddish brown color. The statue of liberty is primarily made of copper. The original color of the statue was the same color as what you would see in a penny. Over time with climate changes and atmospheric moisture in the environment have caused the statue of liberty to have its green color.
