Color has a strong effect on our emotions. There is light, tone, pattern, form, symbol, movement, harmony, contrast, and mood.

Line is defined by a point moving in space.

Shape is two dimensional, flat, and restricted to height and width.

Texture is the surface of an artwork.

• Roughness
• Smoothness

Form is the shape and the space.

• Abstract
• Refers to sculptures
• 3D design
• 2D design

Space is the positive and negative areas in the sense of depth in the artwork. 

Value is the lightness and darkness of colors. 

• White is the lightest value
• Black is the darkest
