Children's Liturgy Series: 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle C)

In today's Gospel story, Jesus teaches a large crowd about how to be happy.

Father in Heaven, we praise and glorify you. Thank you for bringing us together for this children's liturgy lesson. Please send us the Holy Spirit, and fill us with peace, love and wisdom. Help us to understand the lesson you have for us today. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

One day, Jesus came down from a mountain and stood on a level place. A large crowd of people from all over came to hear Him and be healed. Jesus looked at them and said, 'Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, exclude you, insult you, and reject your name as evil because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven.'

Then Jesus said, 'But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.

What did Jesus say about people who are poor or hungry?

• We can be happy even when things are hard by remembering that Jesus is with us and that He promises us great rewards in heaven.

How can we share Jesus' love with others, especially those who are struggling?

• We can share Jesus' love with others by being kind, helping those in need, comforting those who are sad, and standing up for those who are treated unfairly. Showing compassion and care reflects Jesus' love.

Dear Jesus, thank you for teaching us about your blessings. Help us to remember that you are always with us, especially when times are tough. Guide us to share your love and kindness with everyone we meet. Amen.
