In today's gospel we learn about the value of persistence and prayer in the story of the widow and the judge.
Father in heaven we praise and glorify you. We thank you for bringing us together for this Children's Liturgy lesson. Please send us Holy Spirit and fill us with peace, love and wisdom. Help us to understand the message you have for us today and help us to understand how to apply it in our daily lives. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Jesus told his disciples a parable about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary. He said, "There was a judge in a certain townwho neither feared God nor respected any human being. And a widow in that town used to come to him and say, 'Render a just decision for me against my adversary.' For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, 'While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being, because this widow keeps bothering meI shall deliver a just decision for herlest she finally come and strike me.' "The Lord said, "Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says. Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to answer them? I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?"
Version 2
There was a woman who kept asking a judge for help because someone was treating her unfairly. The judge didn’t care about God or people, so at first, he didn’t want to help her.
But the woman didn’t stop asking. She kept coming back again and again! Finally, the judge said, “This woman keeps bothering me—I’ll help her so she’ll stop coming!”
Jesus said, if even a judge like that helped because the woman didn’t give up, imagine how much more God—who loves us—will listen when we keep praying to Him.
Lesson for kids:
Never give up praying! God hears you and cares about what’s in your heart.

1. Why did the woman keep going back to the judge?
(To ask for help and not give up!)
2. How do you think the woman felt when the judge said no at first?
(Sad, frustrated, maybe tired—but she didn’t quit!)
3. What does this story teach us about praying to God?
(That we should keep praying and trust God hears us.)
4. When is a time you prayed for something for a long time?
(Let kids share examples—like praying for someone to get better, or for help at school.)
5. Why do you think Jesus wants us to keep praying, even when we don’t get an answer right away?
(Because God’s timing is different, and He wants us to trust Him.)
6. What are some things you can pray for every day?
(Family, friends, people who are sick, being kind, doing well in school, etc.)
7. How can we show “never giving up” in our everyday life—not just in prayer?
(Trying again when something is hard, being kind even when others aren’t, keeping promises, etc.)
“God loves when we keep talking to Him. Even if we don’t see answers right away, He’s always listening and cares about us.
