In today's Gospel, Jesus teaches us the importance of having faith and doing work for God.
Father in Heaven, we praise and glorify you. We thank you for bringing us together for this Children's Liturgy lesson. Please send us the Holy Spirit and fill our hearts with peace, love, and wisdom. Help us to understand the message you have for us today and give us the courage to live it out in our daily lives. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
One day the apostles said to Jesus, “Lord, give us more faith!”
Jesus said, “Even if your faith is as small as a tiny mustard seed, that little bit of faith can do big things—like telling a tree to move, and it would move!”
Then Jesus told them, “When a servant finishes working in the field, the master doesn’t say, ‘Sit down right away and eat.’ Instead, the servant keeps working until everything is done. The servant isn’t looking for praise; he’s just doing his job.”
Jesus said, “It’s the same for you. When you follow God’s commands—like loving, helping, and forgiving—you don’t need a reward. You’re just doing what God asks of you.”
Scenario 1: Cleaning Up Without Praise
You pick up your toys or clean your room. Even if no one says “thank you,” you did what you were supposed to do.
Faith Lesson: We obey because it’s right, not just to get noticed.
Scenario 2: Helping a Friend
At recess, you see a classmate fall. You help them up without waiting for the teacher to say, “Good job!”
Faith Lesson: Serving others is what Jesus asks, even if no one sees.
Scenario 3: Doing Homework
You finish your homework and show your parents. Even if they don’t make a big deal, you still did your responsibility.
Faith Lesson: God wants us to be faithful in little tasks.
Scenario 4: Praying Small Prayers
You say a short prayer for someone who is sick. It might feel small, but God hears it and can do great things.
Faith Lesson: Even “mustard seed prayers” are powerful when given to God.
